When I was a kid, I was banned from watching most kids cartoons. While most people can look back fondly on their memories of watching classic cartoon media, I’m never able to relate to that nostalgia.

 

Once I started gaining autonomy in middle and high school, I started really struggling with my identity. At times I didn't know where to turn, but eventually, I found animation. The handful of shows with diverse casts and representation gave me a new perspective and worldview that I had never experienced before. They helped me to understand myself so much more as well as give me a break from my struggles, and I fell in love with the medium as a result.

Now, I primarily use Adobe Photoshop and Blender to create concepts and backgrounds for the people that may be struggling with who they are like I was. No matter when you start watching animation, it can impact anyone, and when a good story can speak to you, that’s when you know you’ve found something you love.
